Confrontos após o jogo entre o Southampton e Pompey.

Ontem, confrontos em Southampton após o jogo entre o Portsmouth e a equipa local causaram alguns estragos e 11 detenções.
Este é sempre considerado um jogo de algum risco, visto estes dois clubes terem uma gigantesca, e histórica, rivalidade.
Apesar da difícil situação do clube, eram esperados mais de 4000 adeptos de Pompey, os quais foram escoltados entre a estação de comboios e o estádio do Southampton..

Violence flares between Pompey and Rangers supporters

Pompey and Rangers supporters have clashed following the clubs pre-season friendly.

Fans threw bottles at one another outside the entrance to Fratton Station in Goldsmith Avenue after Pompey beat the Scottish side this afternoon.

Despite an upbeat pre-game atmosphere which saw fans drinking side-by-side in the city's pubs, the violence flared about an hour after the final whistle.

Fans from both sides were reportedly involved in the clash, which centred around Smiffy's Bar on Goldsmith Avenue, which was packed with post-match drinkers.

Witnesses at the scene described how drinkers were left bloodied by the broken glass and fighting.

Once police arrived, the road had to be closed to allow them to break-up the fighting and disperse the crowd.

The scene was cleared and the roads running smoothly again shortly before 7pm.

The bar was closed for the rest of the evening.

Several arrests were made, but police have yet to disclose how many and what the people were arrested for.

Meanwhile, nine arrests were made at Saints' first game of the season, played at home against Millwall.

A police spokeswoman described the match as 'passing without significant incident.'
